A pearl of pure spirit and an orb of raw demon energy get pulled apart in heaven. The plan is simple: the spirit becomes a hero, the demon gets fried by lightning. Then the Dragon King sticks his claws in, swaps them, and a baby named Ne Zha is born with the demon orb burning inside him. He can talk and write from day one. He also throws carts through walls and grins while doing it, so the whole village hates him and he hates them right back. Then he meets Ao Bing, a quiet kid who somehow becomes his first real friend. For a while things almost look normal. On his third birthday the truth drops: he is not the hero his parents promised he would grow into, and the curse means he will not live past three anyway. So now he has to choose. Play the monster everyone already sees, or fight the fate someone else wrote for him. Which one wins when the whole world is betting on the monster?
