Months after the Laplace's Box affair, the Earth Federation sends a team to poke around a piece of the asteroid Axis, still drifting out past the Earth Sphere. The place is supposed to be dead. Empty. Two civilians tag along with the investigators: Arlette Almage, once an engineer for Zeon, and Danton Hyleg, who used to fly test units for Neo Zeon. Both know the old wreck from the inside out. Then the shooting starts. Inside a base where nobody should be standing, something opens fire on them, and it is not some leftover security drone. A new Gundam model comes for the team, and Arlette and Danton, the only two people on that rock who never signed up to fight, get dragged straight into the middle of it. The Federation wanted to know what was hiding in Axis. Turns out someone else got there first, and they brought a mobile suit nobody has seen before. What exactly were Arlette and Danton brought along to find?
