Episode 2 · Maya the Bee

Maya the Bee

Maya is born into a hive that is already splitting apart, two new colonies forming while she is still learning the rules. Miss Cassandra tries to raise her properly. It does not take. The bee wants out, and out is a crime. So she runs. The Queen sends Willy after her, which backfires in the best way: he finds her, and then he stays. Together they push past the edge of everything they were told to stay inside. The world outside is loud and huge and full of other insects, some friendly, plenty not, and not every day ends well. What does a bee do when the hive she broke the rules for is the same hive she cannot go back to?
