Hyouma Kunato has one job: seal the spirits that move into old objects before they hurt anyone. Most of the time it is barely a fight. A few words, a quick ritual, done. Then a single malevolent tsukumogami took someone he loved, and now every spirit he meets gets a fist to the face instead of a greeting. His grandfather Zouhei has had enough. The ultimatum is simple: go live with Botan Nagatsuki, a girl whose household is six tsukumogami strong, or get thrown out of the clan for good. So Hyouma moves in with the very creatures he wants to destroy, and he still has every intention of hunting down the one that ruined his life. Botan's family is not what he expected. They cook, they bicker, they look after her, and that is exactly the problem: hating them up close is turning out to be far messier than hating them from a distance. Meanwhile, something darker is stirring among the spirits, and the fragile peace between humans and tsukumogami is starting to crack. Can a guy who sees a monster in every teacup and paper lantern ever learn to sit at the same table with one?
