Kawakami City is packed with people who trace their blood back to samurai, and the local high school treats that heritage as part of the curriculum. Students settle arguments the old way, with fists and technique. Yamato Naoe hangs out with six close friends, and together they make a solid team, though Yamato is clearly the weakest fighter of the bunch. Then he goes and falls for Momoyo Kawakami and actually tells her. Her answer is blunt: she only loves him like a brother. Years pass, his feelings do not fade, and she keeps him at the same distance. So he comes up with a plan. Beat every one of her friends, then beat Momoyo herself, and win her that way. One problem: they all outclass him in combat, and have for years. When brute strength is off the table, can a guy who cannot win a fight outthink everyone who can?
