Uramichi Omota leads stretches and sings songs for a bunch of preschoolers on a morning TV show. He smiles. He waves. He is dying inside. A former gymnast stuck in a mascot suit of cheerfulness, he keeps letting the mask slip on live camera, telling the little ones that adulthood is mostly exhaustion and regret. Then there are his co-stars. Utano, the rabbit, dreams only of getting married. Iketeru, the bear, is handsome and has a terrible sense of humor. Together with the rest of the burned-out crew, they trade cigarettes and barbells backstage while the kids wait for the next segment. Uramichi's big brother routine always comes with a dark little lesson attached. So what happens when the one adult in the room stops pretending the happy ending is real?
