Reiko Kujirai sells apartments in the Second Kowloon Walled City, a cramped maze of buzzing streetlights and damp alleys that everyone here loves more than they probably should. She is thirty two. Her coworker Hajime Kudou is two years younger, and she has been quietly in love with him for a while now. They bicker, they wander the market streets together, and life is good enough. Then one night he leans over, half asleep, and kisses her. Before she can even process it, he pulls back and says he mistook her for someone else. Someone else. Just like that, the ground shifts. Kudou's mistake drags Kujirai into a chain of encounters and clues that keep pointing at one thing: a past she has no memory of. The city around her starts to feel less like home and more like a stage built to fool her. What exactly did Kudou see in her face that night, and who is the woman he thought he was kissing?
