Bandits came in the night and took everything from Kan'u. Now she hunts them. Any crew, any road, any village, it does not matter. Word of her spreads fast, though nobody knows her face, which suits her fine. On the road she meets a girl named Chouhi, whose parents met the same kind of end. Two orphans, one vow of sisterhood, and a shared plan to keep walking until the killing stops. Then the road fills up. A noble archer, a hotheaded fighter, a strategist who always seems three steps ahead: all of them fall in with Kan'u and Chouhi. Small jobs at first. A lord who won't listen, a gang shaking down farmers, a town that needs a night of quiet. It starts to feel like they can actually pull this off. Except the past doesn't stay buried just because you have friends now. The bandits have leaders, and those leaders have plans, and the girls keep running into fights that are bigger than they are. How long can a promise to protect everyone hold up before it costs one of them everything?
