At four he was already training. By eleven, Xiao Yan had become the youngest fighter his family had ever produced. Then he turned twelve and it all fell apart. His power drained away overnight. For three years the neighbors laughed, and the girl he was promised to walked off with someone else. Just when it looked like he was finished, a spirit rose out of his ring and pointed him toward a way back up. He climbed fast and became the family darling again, but that was never the point. He wants the broken engagement paid back in full. So he leaves home behind and heads for the mountains to train on his own terms. On the road he crosses paths with a girl named Xiao Yixian. She is not part of the plan. Nobody in this story stays a stranger for long, and a chance meeting on a mountain road can turn into something much messier than either of them expected. An old herbalist is waiting somewhere up there, the kind who can make a weak man dangerous. But with a girl like Xiao Yixian in the picture, will Xiao Yan actually get his training started, or is he about to stumble straight into another mess?
