Yurie Hitotsubashi has enough on her plate already. Exams are coming, and Kenji sits a few desks away, completely unaware that a girl in his class thinks about him constantly. Onomichi in the 1980s moves slow: ferries, hills, cicadas, the same walk to school every morning. Then lunch break happens. Between bites, Yurie tells her friend Mitsue that last night she became a goddess. Just like that. No lightning, no ceremony. Mitsue barely reacts before Matsuri, their classmate, hears the word "goddess" and sees dollar signs. Her family's shrine is broke, and the local god Yashima-sama is not exactly packing them in. Matsuri appoints herself manager on the spot. So now Yurie has a job she never applied for: granting wishes, lifting curses, sitting through god conventions, even dealing with visitors from another planet. She still has homework. She still has to figure out what kind of goddess she actually is. And Kenji still has no idea. How do you confess to a boy when half the city is praying to you?
