ID: INVADED
A machine reads the stray thoughts a killer leaves at a crime scene and turns them into a world you can walk around inside. That is how the squad called Kura works, diving into an id well, the twisted mental landscape of whoever held the knife. There is one catch. To enter, you need blood on your own hands. Enter Akihito Narihisago, once a well-liked detective on the force, now a prisoner answering to the name Sakaido whenever they plug him in. He was good at his job. He was happy, even. Then something happened at home, and he ended up on the wrong side of the law he used to enforce. Now he solves other people's murders from a cell, and he is very, very good at it. That is the part that starts to bother him. Each case looks like a lone madman acting on his own, and each time the well shows him hints of a stranger pulling strings from somewhere out of sight. A name keeps coming back: John Walker. Nobody has ever seen his face. Nobody can say if he is a man at all or just a shape the system coughs up. So who is leaving these killers behind, and why does every trail Sakaido follows lead him closer to a door he probably should not open?
