Masugu Tateishi and Yui Mitsuya snipe at each other across the office like it is a sport. He rolls his eyes at her paperwork. She corrects his wording in front of everyone. Nobody in the building would guess these two share a train ride home, let alone a toothbrush. Except they do. They are dating, and the bickering is a show they put on so no one starts asking questions. Rules get written. No lingering looks by the copier. No texting under the desk during meetings. Keep the bickering going, maybe even crank it up a notch, because the second they slip, the whole floor will know. It almost happens more than once. A hand on a shoulder, a nickname said too softly, a door that closes a beat too late. The harder they push the lie, the more they want to just say it out loud. Every close call brings them closer, and every quiet moment after work makes the act feel more ridiculous. They are building something real inside a game they cannot stop playing. So how long can two people keep pretending to hate each other before the pretending starts to cost them something?
