2030. A virus sweeps the planet, and the infected do not just die. They change. Age, sex, race: each body twists into a different kind of monster, and the disease gets a name, Gibia. Japan is a graveyard of empty streets and things that used to be people. Then two men fall out of the sky. A samurai, Sensui, and a ninja, Kenroku, yanked straight from the early Edo period into a country that no longer makes sense. No lord to serve, no war they recognize. Just a woman named Kathleen, a doctor grinding day and night for a cure, and a road through ruins where the only law left is hunger. Monsters come at them in waves. So do the uninfected, ordinary folks who rob and kill for a can of food. Sword against claws, night after night. Can two warriors from a world of honor even grasp what they are really fighting, or is the future they are trying to save already past saving?
