Chris Senshuu keeps flunking his college entrance exams. He is in his mid twenties, he practices kendo, he sweeps the family shrine, and he daydreams about his old high school reunion. Then his spirit gets yanked out of his body and dropped into Byston Well, where he wakes up as Garzey's Wing, a holy warrior out of legend. The Metomeus tribe called him there to break their chains. Small problem: nobody handed him a manual on being a savior, and his only weapon is a dull sword he pulled off a corpse. Here is the twist. Chris did not leave. Another Chris is still back home, breathing, walking around, completely unable to steer anything happening in Byston Well. And the two of them are chained together by fate, so whatever one does, the other pays for. So he stumbles through a land of strange creatures and strangers with hidden faces, swinging that useless blade at slavers who actually know how to fight. He has no training, no plan, no way home. Can a guy who cannot even pass an entrance exam really free an entire people?
