After their mother dies, Satsuki and her little brother Keiichirou move back to her hometown. Old house, new school, boxes still half unpacked. The school turns out to be a crumbling building the locals whisper about, and the kids shrug it off. Silly rumor. Except the ghosts are real, and they have been waiting. Years ago a student drove every spirit out of that schoolhouse. Now they are back, and they remember. Worse, they seem to know Satsuki and Keiichirou by name, like the family owes them something. Between classes they are dodging things that shouldn't exist, leaning on a few new friends and a pet cat that understands far more than a cat should. Then there is the old diary their mother left behind. Why did she write so much about this town, and what did she leave out? What exactly is waiting for them at the end of those pages?
