Centuries ago the zodiac spirits and their god made a promise to stay together forever. That vow still runs through the Souma family: thirteen members who turn into animals when hugged, and who always get pulled back to each other no matter how far they run. Sounds sweet. It is not. The bond is a leash, and Akito, the clan's head, is the one holding it, convinced that he alone shares something special with the others while everyone else lives small and scared, waiting for the punishment that comes if they step out of line. Tooru Honda has lived with these people, cooked for them, laughed with them, and she wants the curse gone. Then the revelations start dropping, one after another, the kind that make you sit down slowly and stare at the wall, and her resolve starts to wobble right when she needs it most. Time keeps moving anyway. Akito's grip tightens, the family stays shut away, and Tooru has to decide how much she can still push for the freedom she promised them. What happens when the person holding the leash is the one who needs saving the most?
