Episode 2 · Dragonaut - The Resonance

Dragonaut - The Resonance

Twenty years ago an asteroid called Thanatos smashed Pluto to pieces. That collision stopped it cold, but only for a while, and Earth is still in its path. So the International Solarsystem Development Agency digs a dragon egg out of the ocean floor and builds a weapon from it: the Dragonaut. One shot, one asteroid, problem solved. Except the asteroid is not the only thing coming. Jin Kamishina is eighteen and alone, his family gone in a shuttle crash two years back. Then he watches one of the new creatures murder someone, and the thing turns on him next. He falls. A girl named Toa catches him out of the air, and just like that he is the pilot the Dragonaut was waiting for. Friends show up, enemies show up, and somewhere in the middle of all of it he and Toa start to matter to each other in a way nobody planned. The higher-ups built a weapon to save the planet. Nobody asked what the weapon wants, or what Toa is, or why the dragons keep arriving. And if Thanatos was never the real threat, what exactly have they been aiming at all this time?
