A boy born with nothing. No arms, no legs, no eyes, no ears. His father handed him to demons before he even drew breath, telling them to take whatever they wanted. So they took almost everything. Years later, Hyakkimaru walks the road with swords where his limbs should be, and every demon he cuts down gives a piece of him back. Forty eight of them stand between him and a whole body. A scrappy kid thief named Dororo tags along, and the two of them cut a bloody path through monster after monster. This pilot was shot in color, closer to the manga than the show that followed, and the TV version ended up black and white because the money ran out. What does a man do when he has to kill his way back into his own skin?
