A year after the fight against Bagramon ends, the world settles down. Taiki and Yuu are playing basketball, and Tagiru, Yuu's classmate, is right there with them, chasing the same goal: beat Taiki someday. Then a shadow follows Tagiru home one evening. He runs after it and lands somewhere that should not exist. The thing he was chasing turns out to be a Digimon named Gumdramon. He tells Tagiru this is the DigiQuartz, a shaky space wedged between the human and digital worlds, and that Digimon can be hunted here. Tagiru does not even think it over. He grabs Gumdramon as a partner and jumps into the Digimon Hunt, where kids everywhere now carry Xros Loaders of their own, all racing for the top spot, while Digimon crossing in from the digital world feed on the bad feelings leaking out of people and turn mean and violent. Tagiru still has no idea what Taiki and Yuu went through before this. He just wants to outdo them. But someone built the DigiQuartz for a reason, and the hunt is starting to look less like a game every day. Who is really pulling the strings?
