Below the capital, where the trash of the rich rains down, a young criminal named Levi runs a crew with Isabel and Farlan. They steal what they can and barely eat. Citizenship above ground is a fantasy they stopped believing in long ago. Then a man named Nicholas Lobov makes an offer. Kill Erwin Smith, a rising Survey Corps squad leader, and the three of them get to live in the sun. Simple. Except Erwin corners Levi first, and instead of dragging him to the Military Police, he gives him a choice: join the expedition, or rot in a cell. Levi picks the expedition, because a blade in hand is a blade near Erwin's throat. Isabel and Farlan come along. The plan stays the same, just slower now, and every day on the surface pulls them further from the mission. The world up there has its own filth, its own cages. So when the moment finally comes to finish what they started, who exactly is conning whom?
