Aliens came as plants. Not ships, not soldiers. Something green and impossible fell out of the sky, and the war that followed never really ended. Rita dies on the same battlefield, wakes up in the same morning, and does it all again. She has done this so many times that her body moves before her mind catches up, blade already swinging while the rest of the squad is still shouting orders. Then a man she has never met says he knows. Keiji has been living this day on repeat too, and he is not guessing. Two people stuck in the same broken clock, and suddenly the loop has a witness. That should be a relief. It is not, because every version of the day she survives, he might not, and every version she changes, something else goes wrong. She has stopped counting the loops. He has stopped counting too, maybe for the same reason. So what happens when one of them finally decides that getting out matters more than the other one does?
