Nagomi Wahira has one dream: to wear a frilly maid outfit and make people smile. She moves to Akihabara, gets hired at a cafe called Ton Tokoton, and on day one everything looks adorable. Then her coworker Ranko, a calm older girl, takes her on a little errand to a rival cafe. The errand turns into a shootout. Maids with knives and pistols, blood on the floor, and Ranko cutting through all of them without blinking. Nagomi just stands there, learning that the cute world she worshipped runs on turf wars and cash. So this is the job now. Between the tea and the omelet rice, rival cafes fight over customers, territory, and every last yen. Nagomi keeps flinching, keeps messing up, keeps clinging to the picture in her head of what a maid is supposed to be. Ranko says almost nothing and kills without a flicker of emotion. The other girls have their own reasons for staying. Nobody here is handing out free hugs. Can a clumsy girl who only ever wanted to bring people joy survive in a place where a smile is just another weapon?
