Peace never really took. Afro won the Number One headband, the one that names him the strongest alive, and he walked away from all of it. Most days he just exists, quiet and still. The nights are a different story. Nightmares claw at him until morning, and that is the closest thing to rest he gets. Then Jinno shows up, and with him Sio, a swordswoman so far above everyone else it is almost funny. They beat him without breaking a sweat. They take the headband. They also take what is left of his father, and that is the part they wanted him to feel. Sio leaves him a choice dressed up as an insult: put on the Number Two headband again and come for them. So he does. Now every bounty hunter and would-be champion on the road wants his head, because wearing that strip of cloth is the same as begging to be killed. Afro cuts through them one after another, corpses piling up behind him, chasing a revenge he has never once managed to put down. How many bodies does it take before the past finally lets go of him?
