World Trigger
A gate ripped open over Mikado City and things came through that bullets just bounced off. They call them Neighbors. So Japan built an agency, Border, and armed its people with Triggers, weapons that can actually hurt the things. Years later the gate is still there. So are the Neighbors. Osamu Mikumo is a trainee, which means he is not allowed to fire a Trigger outside headquarters, ever. Then some bullies drag the new kid in class out past the forbidden line, and the monsters show up. Osamu does the stupid, decent thing and fights. Except the transfer student, Yuuma Kuga, wipes out the aliens barehanded in about ten seconds. He is a Neighbor too, walking around in a school uniform. Now Osamu has a secret he cannot tell Border, and he starts watching Yuuma on his own, hiding the guy's real nature from everyone with a badge. Yuuma fights on the human side. Why would a Neighbor do that?
