A long winter, and vampires stopped being a story you tell kids. They bred fast, took the top of the food chain, and humans wound up crammed into one walled city with searchlights sweeping the dark. Momo is a young soldier in that city. She fights because everyone fights, not because she believes in much. Then a raid goes bad. In the middle of the screaming, Momo catches Fiine pulling her best friend out of a rampaging vampire's path. Fiine is the vampire queen. Momo follows her home anyway. What she finds there is stranger than a monster: a girl who loves music as much as she does, who is just as tired of the killing. They start talking about running. There's supposed to be a place, an Eden, where the two species live side by side. Nobody knows if it's real. So they go looking for it. Both sides want them dead for it, humans and vampires alike, and the road there is not kind. Can two people who were raised to hate each other actually make it to a place that might not even exist?
