After World War II, Japan quietly built an agency to handle terrorism and extremism across the Pacific. The job was serious, so they hired people who could vanish into a crowd and kill without a sound. Ninjas. The force supposedly died out centuries ago, yet here they are, twenty thousand strong, tucked inside banks and schools and government offices. One of them is Kurou Kumogakure, seventeen, broke, and completely adrift. He sleeps in a cramped apartment with peeling walls, drinks beer he swipes from the guy next door, and looks like the last person you would trust with anything. Then the agency hands him a mission. Blend into a local high school. That is it. That is the whole assignment. Except nothing about it is simple, and the school is not just a building full of teenagers copying homework. Something is waiting inside those hallways, and Kurou, who can barely drag himself out of bed, is the one they sent to find it. He is only part time at the agency. He still has classes to sit through and a life that makes no sense. So what exactly is hiding behind those classroom doors, and why does the most useless ninja they have suddenly matter so much?
