Marin and her little sister Urin live down in the sea, and one day they find a silver ring glittering on the ocean floor. Marin can't stand the idea of leaving it there. She hauls Urin up into the sky world to track down the owner, even though the old turtle Matsumoto once went up there and never came back. The owner turns out to be Kanon, a girl who threw the ring into the water that same day because her boyfriend had just dumped her. So she tosses it away again, this time into the woods. While the three of them hunt for it, Urin wanders off and accidentally cracks open a stone coffin. Something ancient and dark comes pouring out: Sedna, who turns light into shadow. That's when Matsumoto finally shows up again and drops the news. Marin is the Priestess of the Sea. Only she, together with the Priestess of the Sky, can seal Sedna back where she belongs. And Kanon? Kanon is the Priestess of the Sky. Kanon wants no part of it, and honestly, who would. But two girls from completely different worlds now have to fight side by side, and the fate of both the sea and the sky sits on their shoulders. Can Marin really pull Kanon into a battle she never asked for, and will they manage to seal Sedna before she drowns everything in darkness?
