Chise Hatori walks into the College with a simple plan: find a way to tear the curses out of her own body. The place smells of dust and old paper, and the library shadows seem to lean in when nobody is watching. Elias doesn't want her to go. She goes anyway. Maybe a school full of sorcerers can teach her something she has never managed on her own, like how to stop throwing herself in front of every blade that comes her way. Then the stares start. Students and professors crowd the halls to gawk at her, because not one of them has ever seen a real mage work. Chise handles it the way she handles everything. Quietly. But the College is too polished to be honest, all those spotless corridors and polite smiles hiding something with teeth. A plot is growing behind the school's back, stitched together out of lies and dark intentions, and it is aimed at the College itself. Chise has to figure out who actually stands beside her before someone tears the place apart from within. How do you spot the enemy when everyone around you is smiling?
