The Imaginary

Fantasy2023Studio PonocRating 7,213+HD

Amanda has a secret friend. Rudger lives in the wardrobe of her room, a boy only she can see, and together they turn the attic above her mother's bookshop into a jungle, a pirate ship, anything at all. They made three promises: never vanish, always protect each other, never cry. Then a man in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts shows up at the door. Mr. Bunting says he can see Rudger too, which should be impossible. Rumour has it he hunts imaginary friends and swallows them to stretch out his own life. He isn't alone either. A strange girl stands beside him, and only the two children notice her at all. One of his grabs goes wrong, and Amanda ends up under the wheels of a car. Now Rudger is on his own, hiding in a library where other forgotten friends cling to the stories kids still tell. Two things can erase him: Mr. Bunting's hands, or Amanda simply forgetting him. How long can a boy made of someone else's imagination keep existing?
