A dragon hatches alone in the middle of a magic forest. No mother, no nest, nothing. Then a family of spell-casting cats finds him, names him Uncle Wings, and raises him like one of their own kittens. He never learns what loneliness feels like. But cats live for a heartbeat. Dragons live for centuries. The kittens he watched grow up leave the forest one by one, off to a human world full of danger and wonder. Some become companions to princes. Some teach. Some just chase their own happiness in loud, crowded cities. Uncle Wings stays behind, guarding the woods, becoming the one fixed point his family can always come home to. And the more humans keep showing up in the lives of the cats he loves, the harder it gets to keep hating them. Each new meeting is its own story, all woven into something bigger about finding where you belong. So what happens to a guardian who outlives everyone he swore to protect?
