Kensei Maeshima could land jumps that made scouts whisper, and then he walked away from the ice for good. Why? Reo Shinozaki, the rival he chased in his head, looked straight through him and never once admitted Kensei was any good. So now Kensei just drifts through Inodai High, lending his legs to whatever sports club needs a ringer, never signing his name on anything. Then Reo makes his move. He drops singles skating and joins St. Clavis Gakuin, the reigning Grand Prix champions, in the team event called skate-leading. Enter Hayato Sasugai, a classmate with his own murky history involving Reo, who talks Kensei into chasing a real rematch on the ice. One problem: skate-leading is not a solo show. Inodai's club members want nothing to do with him. He is fast, reckless, wildly inconsistent, and some of them already have bad blood with him. They need him as their Lead. They also think he will wreck everything. Can a guy who never learned to lean on anyone become the one person five others have to trust?
