School Shock

In 2017, a bunch of brilliant scientists crack something huge in bioengineering. The military grabs it fast. Cue a new arms race, and the star weapon of that race: vanguards, soldiers pumped full of nanomachines that make them lethal in a fight and quietly eat away their lifespan. Most of them retire early. Some don't get the chance. Liuli is one of them. She has 380 days left to live. That's it. And command hands her a rescue job: pull a hostage out of a civilian building. A simple thing for a normal person. For a woman who only knows how to kill, it's a mess. She takes it anyway, obedient as ever, and walks right into the one thing she never expected to find. The man holding the hostage used to be a vanguard too. Zhongrong Zhou. He's crying, demanding the government hand over the son of Eden. Liuli looks at him and sees nothing but trash, a stain on everything she is. Two vanguards, one room. What happens when the only person who can judge a killer is another killer?
