Rurouni Kenshin
Ten years after the revolution, the most feared killer in Japan is just a guy doing laundry and smiling too much. He carries a sword with the blade on the wrong side, so it can never cut anyone again. Kenshin wanders from town to town, helping strangers, and he keeps his past locked up tight. Then he meets Kaoru, a young woman running a kendo school that a fake Battousai is trying to scare off her land. Kenshin stays to help. He ends up staying longer than he planned. The dojo slowly fills up with people who have nowhere else to go. A loud orphan kid. A fighter with fists like bricks. A doctor with a sharp tongue. They eat together, argue, laugh. It almost looks like a home. But the name Battousai is not something you can just walk away from, and old enemies have long memories. Some of them want revenge. Some want to finish what the revolution started. Kenshin has sworn never to kill again, which is a nice promise until someone he loves is standing in the way of a blade. Can a man with that much blood on his hands really protect anyone without picking up the sword the way he used to?
