A scared kid stops going to school after something happens there, and one day he finds a piece of paper asking a simple question: wind it, or don't. He circles yes. That choice drops a living doll named Shinku into his life, and seven of these strange dolls exist, all made by a craftsman called Rozen. But what if he had circled no? Years later, another Jun is in college, working at a bookstore, and still feels like he fits nowhere. Then a book shows up with instructions for building a Rozen Maiden. Volume two arrives on his doorstep, and with it, pieces of a doll. Just as quickly, the deliveries stop. A notice informs him the series has been discontinued. So now he's stuck with a half finished doll, a message from himself in another world, and no idea what he's supposed to do with any of it. Can a person who never wanted to belong anywhere finish what another version of himself started?
