Episode 2 · Rift

Rift

The sky tears open where two worlds grind against each other. Raw energy from our side and theirs chews a hole straight through time and space, and it is the only door the monsters have. They come through it. They always come through it. Then a handful of people step up. Not soldiers, not scientists. Chosen. They plant themselves at the mouth of the rift and hold the line, because if they step aside even once, the things on the other side pour into every city and nothing gets them back out. Nobody explains why these particular people were picked, or what the rift does to a body after months of standing next to it. So what happens when the door stops staying shut?
