One quiet evening a woman kills Tomokui Kanata. That should be the end of him. Instead he wakes up in another world as a goblin, the lowest, weakest thing around, with a new name: Rou. His human mind is still there, though, along with the memory of a life that had power in it. Then he eats something and feels it happen. Traits, abilities, whatever the thing he just swallowed had, some of it becomes his. That old trick from his past life stuck with him, and it lets Rou grow fast. Days pass and he is already hunting beside another newborn, Gobukichi, and soon the two of them are not goblins anymore. They evolve. The rest of the pack notices, and Rou ends up leading them, training them, climbing past one species after another while other races start to take interest in him. A human mind inside a monster that keeps getting stronger. How far up the ladder can Rou actually climb before something puts a stop to it, the way it did the first time?
