A letter from a famous opera singer lands on Professor Layton's desk, and it is not just an invitation. Janice wants him in the audience for her new show, and she needs his help with something strange. Her friend Melina died a year ago. Then a seven-year-old girl appeared, claiming she has found the key to immortality. The child knows private details of Melina's life. Secrets nobody else could possibly know. Layton takes the case and walks into the Crown Petone opera house. What waits inside is not a performance. It is a contest, a deadly one, with the legendary Fountain of Youth as the prize. Competitors fight hard for a shot at eternal life. Puzzles block every path, and the clock keeps moving. Luke stays at his mentor's side through all of it, because a true gentleman never leaves a puzzle unsolved. So who is the girl, really? And what does Janice actually want Layton to find before the curtain falls?
