Juugo Yama gets kicked out of his family and lands on Nanae Island, a man-made spot in the Pacific built for students chasing big dreams. His budget is tiny, forty thousand yen a month, so he takes the cheapest apartment he can find. That room already has a tenant: the ghost of Nanana Ryuugajou, a former shut-in who was murdered there ten years ago. Here is the twist. Nanana cannot leave the island, but before she died she scattered a bunch of objects with strange powers all over it. The Nanana Collection, people call it. She wants Juugo to hunt them down, and he agrees, mostly because he figures the trail might lead him to whoever killed her. He picks up help from Tensai Ikkyuu, a classmate who calls herself a master detective, and her maid Daruku, a boy who wears the uniform. So now Juugo is digging through an island full of hidden treasures, dodging everyone else who wants them, and trying to solve a decade-old murder that the ghost in his closet cannot even remember clearly. The collection is out there. The killer might still be too. Which one does he find first?
