Maria lives in France while the Hundred Years' War grinds on around her, and she cannot stand it. So she does something about it. A young witch with real power, she flies out with her two familiars, a succubus and an incubus, and wrecks whatever battle is about to start. Armies scatter. Plans fall apart. She keeps it up, battle after battle, because dead peasants do not interest her one bit. Then heaven notices. The archangel Michael comes down and lays a rule on her: the day she loses her virginity, her magic goes with it. She is called a heretic for it, and she shrugs the whole thing off. An angel named Ezekiel is assigned to watch her and make sure she never uses magic where people can see, and that barely slows her down either. Meanwhile the Church has its own plans, and they are not about warnings. They want her power gone and her meddling finished for good. A witch who will not obey heaven, a church that wants her silenced, and a war that keeps burning either way. How long can one stubborn girl hold a line that both sides want broken?
