Mary Saotome walks into Hyakkaou Private Academy with perfect grades, sharp looks, and zero patience for anyone born with a silver spoon. She wins big against a classmate on her very first day, and just like that, the student council notices her. That is not a good thing. Then she finds out how the school really works. Rank at Hyakkaou comes down to one thing: how much you win at gambling. And down at the bottom sits Tsuzura Hanatemari, her friend since grade school, drowning in debt to a system built to crush people like her. Mary decides she will climb high enough to buy Tsuzura's freedom, even if she has to humiliate every strong player on the way up. But some council members are not just watching her. They are steering her, letting her win exactly as much as suits them. Is Mary the one playing this game, or has she been a piece on the board from the very first bet?
