The Gingarou Hotel in Ginza still sparkles. Robotic staff keep the floors polished, the beds made, the tea ready, exactly as they did the day the owner left. Yachiyo, the robot serving as acting acting manager, runs the place with a care that borders on stubborn. Decades of dust outside. No guests inside. The air turned toxic, humans fled Earth, and one by one her coworkers' lights went dark, with nobody left to fix them. Then something happens that flips the quiet routine upside down. Yachiyo promised the owner she would be here when he came back, so she holds on. She keeps the lobby warm for people who may never walk through the doors. But what do you do with a promise when the world it was made for is gone, and the one thing you never planned for suddenly shows up at the entrance?
