Otoha was seven when Jiro vanished near the river, and the old stories about children disappearing on the far bank never really left her. Years later she comes home with a press badge, covering the fighting between government troops and the militia. Same streets. Same water. When the squad she's walking with gets split up in the chaos, she notices a figure slipping ahead of her through the smoke, always just far enough to follow. Deeper into the back alleys, the town starts to feel wrong. Shutters closed. No soldiers. Whoever is leading her knows exactly where she wants to go, and she keeps going anyway. Is she chasing a story, or is something from that river finally calling her back?
