Weed is a dog who finds out his father is Gin, the legendary leader of Ohu, the one who once rallied the dogs of Ohu and brought down Akakabuto, a monstrous bear. That is a lot to live up to. Weed has never met him. He decides he will, no matter how far he has to walk or how many teeth he loses along the way. The road does not stay friendly for long. Dogs he meets along the way start as strangers and end as brothers, and others show their fangs the moment his back is turned. Word spreads fast about the son of Gin, and not everyone is glad to hear it. Some dogs want to follow him. Some want to test him. Some want him dead just for carrying that name. Weed keeps going, one paw in front of the other, chasing a father he only knows from stories. But what happens when he finally finds him: does Gin even want a son showing up out of nowhere?
