Humanity is already dead. It just hasn't stopped moving yet. In 2016, King Solomon burned the foundations of history to ash, and Chaldea, a shadowy mage outfit nobody outside the walls knows about, saw the extinction coming a year early. Their fix: send one last Master, Ritsuka Fujimaru, and his half-servant Mash Kyrielight back through time to smash the Singularities. Six down. Now they land in Mesopotamia, 2655 B.C., where gods still walk around and the air smells like a burning barn. Here's the catch. The land is crawling with demonic beasts that tear through villages for fun, and the last wall standing belongs to Uruk, a fortress city run by Gilgamesh. Yes, that Gilgamesh: the King of Heroes, who finished his quest for immortality, took up magecraft, and now commands a battle line of summoned heroes like some grumpy general who refuses to lose. Ritsuka and Mash sign up for the defense, which means demons on one side and the Three Goddess Alliance on the other, all of them eager to wipe out what's left of humankind. Something worse is sleeping underneath it all, just waiting to wake up. So why is Uruk still holding? And what exactly is buried out there that scares even the gods?
