Every time Chinami gets nervous, scared, or just a little too happy, the lights flicker and phones die in her pocket. It has been that way since she was a kid, and it is the reason she kept changing schools: one blown fuse too many and there was nothing left to do but pack up and start over somewhere new. Now she is eighteen and hoping this school will finally be different. It is not. A few days in, the electronics around her start acting up again, and someone notices. Kotaro Kannagi, a classmate, watches a device sputter and die right next to her, and instead of backing away, he leans in. He has a name for what she does. TYPE-E. And he wants to study it, take it apart, figure out how she works, which is not exactly what a girl wants to hear from a boy. So now Chinami has a problem she never had before: someone who knows her secret and will not leave it alone. She came here to blend in. Kotaro seems determined to make that impossible. Is he just a curious kid with a notebook, or is he about to drag her into something she cannot walk away from?
