Yuuta Togashi spent middle school wrapped in a cape, swinging a giant sword at imaginary enemies, convinced he was the Dark Flame Master. His parents couldn't snap him out of it. Now he's older and desperate to bury that cringeworthy phase, so he picks a high school far from home where nobody knows his face. Boxes of magic trinkets are sealed shut. He just wants to eat lunch with normal classmates and forget. Then a girl with an eyepatch appears on his balcony the night before school starts. Her name is Rikka Takanashi, she's in his class, and she insists her Wicked Eye has already decided they belong together. She claims she fights evil with supernatural powers. Yuuta's shot at a quiet, ordinary life collapses fast. Worse, she keeps dragging his old delusions back into the light, and every time she does, someone from his past could be watching. Can Yuuta really keep his Dark Flame Master days hidden when the one person who believes in that world won't leave him alone?
