A prison break tears through the galaxy, and the Galaxy Police headquarters goes up in flames. Kain walks away from the wreckage without a scratch. He has already picked his next target, and it is not a planet or a fleet. It is one woman on Earth. Back home, Tenchi and the others are killing time with old home videos of his mother, Achika. Then the picture flickers. Achika fades, like someone turning down the brightness, and Tenchi's own hand starts going see through. Washuu slaps together a device that keeps him from blinking out completely, but it is a patch, not a cure. The truth lands fast: Kain jumped back to 1970 to kill Achika before Tenchi was ever born. So the whole crew piles into the past, to a quiet Earth decade with no idea what is about to hit it. They have to find a killer who knows exactly where to strike, and they have to do it while Tenchi keeps flickering at the edges. Can you save someone from a death that has not happened yet?
