A private tour of the brand new Nishitamashi Twin Towers turns into a family outing when Conan and the Detective Boys bump into Ran, Sonoko, and Kogorou, who scored an invite to the grand opening. Professor Agasa tags along. Floors, windows, a view worth the elevator ride. Then three bodies turn up, all of them tangled with the same vintage Porsche 356A, and the sightseeing stops being fun. Before anyone can make sense of the killings, the building itself shudders. An explosion rips through the tower, fire climbs the walls, and the police start hauling people out. One problem: the elevator is the only way down, and it is already gone. Conan and his friends are stranded up there with a spreading blaze and a killer still walking around somewhere nearby. Help is on the way. Fire, smoke, and a shrinking clock are not. So who set the charges, and why does a car from decades ago keep showing up next to the dead?
