Black Jack takes the cases other doctors run from: a girl with a tumor that shouldn't exist, a man whose own body has turned against him. And wherever he goes, a tiny assistant named Pinoko tags along, convinced she's his wife. She isn't. She's just hopelessly in love with a man who barely smiles. Then there's the bill. He saves lives, sure. Almost anyone's, if the money is right. No cash, no treatment. That cold rule has made him plenty of enemies and cost him patients he could have saved. Mostly he trusts what he can prove. Needles, scalpels, test results. But some cases refuse to fit any chart. A mother's instinct. A stranger's sacrifice. Things he can't measure, that still change the outcome. He walks in certain of the science and walks out wondering what else is out there. So what happens when the smartest man in the room meets something he just can't cut open and explain?
