Somewhere in the back alleys of Ura-Harajuku, past the shops most people walk right by, there is a witch with a little store. Word gets around. People whose wishes nobody ever listened to find their way there, and Nina, the proud apprentice witch, takes them in. She grants what their hearts secretly want most, and every wish she grants makes her a bit stronger, a bit more important. A perfect setup, she thinks. Then it stops being perfect. Not every wish deserves to come true, and not every wish ends well. To help people, Nina has to look deep into them, into places she never planned to go, and what she sees there changes her. The more power she gains, the more the job weighs on her. She wants to comfort everyone in the world, but her own ambition keeps pulling the other way. So what happens when a witch who wants to save everybody finally meets a wish she cannot grant?
